Use AoE on grouped zombies, then turn single-target damage on the Risen Champion before it reaches you.
What the drops are for
Every awakening stage (I → V) needs Spell Pages on top of six materials, and bosses are the official source Official. Plan which stage you are farming for with the Awakening Planner.
The island quest chain moves on after this kill. Quest NPCs gate by Player level, so a locked quest after the boss is a level gate, not a bug.
